I'm playing a Blackstar ID Core 40 at home and I startet messing with the Blackstar Insider software a few days ago and it is really pretty cool to have a different patch for every song. It just makes everything easier. However I came across a problem today. Whenever I switch between patches everything will change properly except the volume settings. So when I start a song with a less-gain clean sound and I then switch to a (much louder) high-gain OD sound my ears (and the ears of the rest of my family) would be blown off because the volume is still pretty high. Can anyone help me squish this bug? I really don't want to uninstall the programm because I don't want to lose all my patches:/.
You don't lose your patches if you import them into your library and prossibly backup them. Every single patch in your library is a file on your harddisk.
There's a directory in your user profile's 'Documents/Blackstar' that contains them.Regarding your original problem I don't think that re-installing will change anything. My insider software behaves exactly the same. I'm not sure if that's a bug or a feature, though. I wouldn't like the volume to change to whatever I was using at the time when I made that patch when e.g. Using a footswitch to change the sound. I'd have to walk to the amp to change the volume manually if it differs vastly from the one I used before.
Ok thanks I'll do that!I don't think it's a feature because I played with my buddies when i first tried it out and i did exactly what i said before. I changend from clean to od and everything was still perfect.
But a day later we played that song again and the second patch was much louder! And another thing i noticed was the star (.) next to the patch name whenever i changed the volume after it didn't happen automatically. Tha star indicates that the original patch has been changed. But i put the volume exactly on what it was before (you can see that in the little table where all your tabs are safed). That means whenever you change the patch the program actually thinks it changed the volume to what it should be, even though it didn't. And when you then change the volume yourself the program thinks it's a variation of your original patch (hence the.).I also noticed that the. won't disappear when i clicked 'save' after i put the volume knob back in it's original position. So sth is definitly buggy here.
Hi everyone, I'm weighing up upgrading my gear from an old/cheap/broken combo amp to going full iOS with my iPad doing all the amp modelling and FX processing.I'm a hobbyist guitarist and just do it for fun at home, so not requiring a performance grade rig, but I do prefer monitoring everything through speakers rather than headphones.I'm looking at an iOS interface e.g. Apogee Jam, iRig HD 2, Sonic Port. The latter have a dedicated line out for monitoring directly through an amp or speaker.Question 1: is there a significant difference between monitoring from the iPad's headphone out vs a dedicated line out?Question 2: what's the best option for monitoring the signal? Amp, speakers etcIve read countless reviews and discussions on iOS interfaces but none ever seem to discuss monitoring through amps/speakers!Thanks in advanceSent from my iPhone using. Hi ThereFor a laugh, I tried this. I have a Jam 96K, an iPad Air 2 and a pair of JBL Creature IIs. I ran AmpKit+ on my iPad.
My guitar is a Squier Tele CVC.I tried various amp models and none of them sounded great. The sound was pretty thin compared with my Mustang III V2, but for a cheap setup it's not that bad. However it's not that cheap really - in NZ dollars, an iPad is around $1100, speakers, say $200 and the Jam $250. A Mustang 1 amp would be $200.The Jam has a simple in/out, it takes a 1/4' lead and outputs through a bespoke cable with a Lightning end (or a USB A - both come with the Jam), so you have to monitor through the iPad's speakers or its headphones plug. You could probably monitor over AirPlay to an Apple TV if you wanted.
I also plugged the iPad into my Mustang's Aux input instead of directly to my speakers. That works fine and since it's a much bigger amp with a bigger speaker than my Creatures, the sound was fuller. I guess a stereo amp would have similar behaviour to the Mustang. One thing with using the iPad in this was is that it will drain the battery quickly.
I didn't time it, but you might get a few hours before you have to recharge. Since the Jam is using the Lightning port you can't have your iPad connected to power too!An alternative is to use a Mac with GarageBand and again the Jam into that. Then you can record with GB. I have done this a bit and it's pretty good.
A friend keeps telling me to get Pro Logic, but that would cost me $400+ and I'm not a good player yet, let alone skilled at mixing. There are certainly PC or Android options, but I've bought heavily into the Mac ecosystem. I think you are spot on in the sense that audio softwares and hardwares seem to fall into two distinct marketing ranges: serious pro, with high specifications and at the other end cheap-cheapo with not a lot in between.I'd guess that digital processing only into a P.A. Such as guitar - ipad - P.A. Is going to lose a lot of the oomph that a dynamic, analogue set up has. Plus there are all of the additional complexities usually associated with digital signal processing such as original signal source degradations. Were I a wealthy dude I'd think about developing a mid-range type audio product with a view to making inroads to elementary school - high school markets along with home users and amateurs.
In other words a serious non-serious kit that is non-trivial at the same time with seamless and transparent-in-use user interface?I suppose a present day equivalence model is Photoshop Pro against Photoshop Lite - each has a well dedicated market and well dedicated use? Thanks for input guys!Sounds like the best option would be to buy a stero guitar amplifier and use with - probably - an interface with a dedicated monitor out.My budget is around £200 so amp wise I've been looking at one of the Blackstar ID Core range as they seem to get mostly good reviews, have stereo speakers, USB out for recording, and MP3 in for monitoring.Stretching the budget, a Yamaha THR would be ideal if it was class-compliant and work with iOS, alternatively the BEAM looks a good option. I've heard rumours Fender are releasing a new amp in this sector so keeping an eye on NAMM 2017 rumours! On the audio interfaces, I see great reviews about the Apogee Jam, but for same money can get the iRig HD 2 which has a direct monitor out. Looks a bit plasticky compared with the Jam tho. My wife is trying to persuade me to buy and iPad so she can use her. iPad for Facebook, and then my daughter can use my one for watching YouTube or playing games.
Obviously I would like a better reason than that for buying one. I may get iRig or something like that.
It wouldn't replace my amp. One of my wife's friends regularly has karaoke sessions, so it would be good to take my guitar with the iPad, so I don't need to bother with disconnecting my pedals etc. I may also get a MIDI interface to use with my keyboard. Does anyone know if GarageBand for iOS is any good? I can't believe that an app that only costs £4.99 can have so many features.I would also like to find an app for organising my tabs and transcriptions.
I have got print outs in lots of folders, which I can't keep track of. However, most of the apps I have looked at seem to be like UltimateGuitar with tabs from other people, which isn't what I want. Any suggestions?. My wife's iPad is provided by her work, but doesn't get used for work.
Apparently many of them have gone 'missing' at the expense of the taxpayer.
